Ugass Kutya! (literally “Bark, You Dog!”) is widely regarded as the first Hungarian thrash metal full-length album, released in 1990 by Sopron-based band Moby Dick. While rehearsing since around 1980, the album’s recording sessions took place in December 1989, and upon release, it quickly propelled the band to the forefront of the Hungarian metal scene .
- It emerged during a wave of new Hungarian metal classics, alongside albums by Pokolgép, Ossian, and Sing Sing.
- The album’s aggressive yet melodic fusion—combining thrash riffs with memorable choruses—became instantly iconic, establishing Moby Dick’s reputation.
- Originally released on vinyl and cassette, it became a collectible rarity.
- A limited remastered edition (2024) came out via e-Music Records in a numbered digipak, preserving the striking original cover artwork.
